The Buddha looked deeply at the world, and saw:
Humans are suffering, delusional addicts,
craving sensual satisfaction in a story-realm,
yet, never achieving lasting happiness.
Over and over seeking this same script.
Birth, Death. Birth, Death.
More craving, more suffering.
10,000 lifetimes of craving and suffering.
There is no judgment here!
Running around in this wheel if fine!
Do whatever you enjoy!
Round and round.
Birth and Death.
You get satisfied,
but just for a moment.
Then more craving,
more suffering.
What is the solution?
How to get free?
When one is ready to get free,
the answer is clear:
(not everyone is ready, this is fine!)
The prescription for freedom
can be distilled into just two parts:
1: Knowledge and
2: Service (action from compassion)
These are called the Two Wings of Dharma.
First, there is Knowledge.
Most often, the Knowledge is obtained
through close contact with a teacher. (Jñāna yoga)
It should be easy to find an authentic teacher
in a known lineage.
My teacher is in the Yoga tradition, who studied under
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. There are many authentic lines.
(They say the Guru is not a person, it is a wisdom-stream
which goes back many generations)
I personally find the authentic truth spoken most clearly
in the language of Sanskrit in the ancient traditions of India.
There are many. Yoga, Vedanta, Buddhism.
The Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras, or the Buddha Dharma,
you really can't go wrong if you use this source material.
Don't have to study them all, just pick one.
There are also many contemporary teachers, such as Eckhart Tolle,
Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Abraham/Hicks,
A Course in Miracles, all of these seem to be authentic lines as well.
The essence of truth is this:
Most suffering is due to Ignorance or Delusion.
We do not see the world clearly.
We need to clean our glasses, correct our vision.
We are a little-bit confused about the nature
of Self and God, Name and Form.
We see the world apparently,
as many things, separation.
We think (incorrectly) that we can find
lasting happiness in the world of form.
We often fail to see a substrate
or a common source,
which ties all things together.
There have been many people
who figure out the truth without a teacher,
through the insight of experience alone.
But most spiritual seekers will benefit from
finding a teacher.
Then there is Service part.
Service is Action (Karma yoga) from the energy of the
Four Sublime Abidings:
Kindness, Compassion, Joy, Dispassion,
Working from this energy
in the service of All beings
and Seven Generations.
Knowledge of the Truth
about your True Divine Nature and Beauty,
Then, working from compassion
in the service of all beings.
That's IT!
This is the path to freedom from all suffering.
I hope this is helpful.
