WHY--

WSKG, Inc. is a state-chartered, government-funded non-profit which runs 2 radio streams and several TV streams. If you listen, you will hear claims that they are "Public Broadcasting", however THEIR DOORS ARE CLOSED to local, independent community producers, i.e. CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC!

WSKG sits in the "sweet spot" of the Marcellus Shale region, and reaches 1 million households.  Yet:

• There is almost no locally produced content of any kind
  
• Independent producers are 100% BANNED FROM THE AIRWAVES
  
• For decades they've jammed the radio airwaves with 140 hours per week of ROBO-MUSIC (selected by a computer or from a satellite stream, or by a human who imitates a computer)
  60 hours of Classical on one station, and 80 hours of Jazz on the other
• Their reporting on the SHALE-GAS INVASION has been pathetic, at least half of it being pure Public Relations straight from the lips of industry spokesmodels. There is a ban on any kind of advocacy, and they INCORRECTLY THINK it is their DUTY to "air both sides", meaning even the best 2 min. news report will give 1/2 time for industry PR -- and is 2 min. per week really enough to cover this issue?

Shaleshock Media has many hours of high-quality broadcast-ready HD content which is LOCALLY PRODUCED and HIGHLY RELEVANT to this community, however, they refuse to allow content produced by the public, thus making the phrase "public broadcasting" a fraudulent statement.

EARLY NEGOTIATIONS with CEO Brian Sickora about allowing independent, community producers on the air were encouraging but HAVE STALLED.

3. Be sure to TAG WSKG in the update (so they see it).
