Two excellent gas drilling news items in the last couple of days, worthy of celebration.
1) After massive public pressure (e.g., http://vimeo.com/29952415 ) and the receipt of nearly 70,000 comments!!! the DRBC has pushed back their decision to allow fracking in the Delaware River basin by 1 month.
See: http://www.state.nj.us/drbc/newsrel_naturalgas100711.htm
2) After an incredible public hearing in Watkins Glen Sept. 27, the NY DEC has offered a second public hearing for the LPG facility in Watkins Glen on Nov. 3, and has extended the deadline for public comments for a month until Nov. 14, 2011. http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/71619.html
I know that delays do not exactly seem like a victory, but I have a feeling deep inside me that says the tide is beginning to turn.
Keep up the pressure!
