$10m Broome County Landfill pipeline to Endicott -- what's this about?

Do you know about this?

(WBNG Binghamton) Broome County legislators said Thursday the approval of a $10 million sewage pipeline from the county landfill near the Greater Binghamton Airport will save taxpayers money.

The legislature gave unanimous support of the measure with two absences.

The pipeline will carry leachate, a runoff from the landfill, to the Endicott Sewage Treatment Plant. County officials said the liquid is not considered toxic.

The project is estimated to cost $10 million, $3.5 of which will be paid by a state grant secured by Sen. Thomas Libous, R-Binghamton.

The rest will be bonded and paid back through the fees taken from residents dropping waste at the landfill.

When finished, it will save the department $100,000 each year, according to Daniel Schofield, the county's deputy commissioner of solid waste management.

"Endicott was willing to accept the sewage and the leachate," Schofield said. "They have the capacity and they don't have any issues like the other plant does, so it seemed like a natural fit."

The pipeline will also connect to the Greater Binghamton Airport and the area surrounding it.

Legislature Chairman Jerry Marinich said the sewage access could spur more industrial development near the airport.

Do you know that Huron Campus in Endicott has been "treating leachate from the Broome County Landfill for years"? (according to a Villiage of Endicott trustee).

Did you know that Huron is "treating" leachate from the Seneca Falls landfill
which ACCEPTS MARCELLUS SHALE WASTE FROM PA??

Do you know there was a spill of ~15,000 gallons of this toxic leachate waste at the Huron Campus
in late March 2013 (this year)?

I have more details and video on this which I will be publishing soon.
