Subject: NRC FOIA request
From: William Huston <williamahuston@gmail.com>
To: FOIA records management at NRC

Hi,

I would like access to any and all records relating to any a) permit applications, b) permits issued, or c) correspondence relating to the use of Depleted Uranium by the Oil and Gas industry.

These applications could be for, (but not limited to)
the use of DU in perforation guns or as radiation sources in well-logging.

Upon information and belief, the following companies
may have applied for such permits:

Schlumberger, Halliburton, Perf Tech Wireline Services,
Welex Jet Services, Inc, Otis Engineering,

Gearhart Industries,  GO Company, GO Wireline,
GO Oil Well Services, Gearhart-Owen Industries,
Widco Mandrel Industries, Pengo Manufacturing,
Peterson Engineering, Well Reconnaissance, Perfco,
Wireline Electronics, Computalog Wireline,
Rockbit Industries, Damballa,  J-W Wireline, C+J Wireline,
Rocky Mountain Wireline, Baker-Hughes,
This list is meant to assist NRC in processing this request,
however, this request is not limited to these companies.
I am seeking NRC form 244, and any other supplemental materials,
permits, correspondence, etc.

I would prefer the results in electronic form,
PDF or DVD, to save on costs.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need additional
information.

Best Regards,
William Huston

The NRC's response:

Response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) / Privacy Act (PA) Request.
FOIA/PA 2013/0308

Response Type: FINAL

Aug 13, 2013

No agency records subject to the request have been located. For your information, Congress excluded three discrete categories of law enforcement and national security records from the requirements of the FOIA. See 5 USC § 552(c) (2006 & Supp IV (2010).  This response is limited to those records that are subject to the requirements of the FOIA; This is a standard notification that is given to all our requesters and should not be taken as an indication that excluded records do or do not exist.
