Last minute venue change, Binghamton EPA hearings moved to Syracuse. MAKE SOME CALLS

Permalink: http://tinyurl.com/BinghamtonEPAVenueChange

Last minute venue change of Binghamton EPA hearing to Syracuse.

How many First Amendment rights are being squashed by SUNY and the EPA here?

``Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.`` -- First Amendment

This change may also violate federal open meetings law:

Notice of Meetings

(e)(1) In the case of each meeting, the agency shall make public announcement, at least one week before the meeting, of the time, place, and subject matter of the meeting, whether it is to be open or closed to the public, and the name and phone number of the official designated by the agency to respond to requests for information about the meeting. Such announcement shall be made unless a majority of the members of the agency determines by a recorded vote that agency business requires that such meeting be called at an earlier date, in which case the agency shall make public announcement of the time, place, and subject matter of such meeting, and whether open or closed to the public, at the earliest practicable time. I think we have the basis of a federal injunction. Any attorneys up for this?

Make some phone calls!!!
Be polite!

I agree. Why the last minute change? Why the sudden need to change venues?
