Drilling on the Moon

I was inspired by Caleb Leverett to explore with Google Earth
an area around West Texas between Lubbock and Midland/Odessa.

Caleb is a gas industry worker who apparently has a sense of ethics,
as can be seen in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kOEEN8Wi8s

This area is a vast, polluted and toxic wasteland, due to many years
of lawless extraction by the oil and gas industry, as can be seen if you explore this area.
Tens of thousands of well pads can be seen, some in urban settings, adjacent to homes.
This alien landscape brought to mind the song by Sting/The Police, "Walking on the Moon"

If someone with more musical talent than I have
makes a decent recording of this,
I will make a really cool video :)

"Drilling On The Moon"
(sung to "Walking on the Moon" by Sting/The Police)

Taking water from the creek,
Drilling on the moon
I hope my tank don't leak,
Drilling on the moon

We could Frack forever
Drilling on the moon
We could die together,
Drilling on, Drilling on the moon

Drilling back of your house
Drilling on the moon
I'm so sorry about your cows,
Drilling on the moon

My chemicals were all disclosed,
Drilling on the moon
Regulate my permits so,
Drilling on, Drilling on the moon

Some may say
The water runs black,
and then it's grey,
No way

And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play

Giant scars cut to the Earth,
Drilling on the moon
Took some trees which won't grow back,
Drilling on the moon.

Smog and fire forever
Walking on the moon
We could be together
Walking on, walking on the moon

Some may say
I'm wishing my days away
No way
And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play

Keep it up, keep it up
