Democracy School in Spencer NY Nov 13-14 (Highly recommended)

If you really want to understand the structural obstacles one faces when performing traditional activism, attending the CELDF's Democracy School is essential.

http://www.celdf.org/Default.aspx?tabid=561

This training was created by Richard Grossman -- whose decades -long research for POCLAD into the nature of the corporation gave him insights into why most of our activist campaigns were ineffective, and how the corporate form created as an extension of colonialism and slavery,

and Thomas Linzey, an environmental attorney from PA
who has developed one of the only effective legal strategies
which is working to keep unwanted corporate hog farms and
strip mines out of communities which don't want them.

Linzey and Grossman (and their trained instructors)
show us in Democracy School the pitfalls of strategy
of state regulation of industry, and the ineffectiveness
of seeking remedy in the courts -- rigged games designed
in order to absorb activist energy into a losing strategy.

Whether your issue is fighting sprawl-marts,
hog farms, power lines, cell towers, animal testing,
the corporate media, climate change, peak oil,
or hydrofrack-attacks, you will become a much better
activist after attending Democracy School.

This necessary training will blow your mind,
and most probably, radically shift your paradigm.

Please see info below about how to attend:

Much of the issues we face today stem from the lack of democratic principles being honored in our current culture. What would true democracy look like? How would it feel if each of us really had a voice in the way our communities functioned, in the way we related to each, in the laws that governed each of us?

Do the rights of corporations to make a profit supersede the rights of citizens to health, safety and well-being?
How and why do corporations have the power to over-ride the democratic will of the people?
How can we use home rule to protect our rights?

We are planning to run another Democracy School, mostly likely in Spencer NY, on Friday November 13th and Saturday Nov 14th. If you are interested, or know someone who is, please let me know asap so we can gauge whether or not to commit to running this course. Speaking as someone who just took the course, it is a powerful, transformative weekend, and I highly encourage you to consider going!

This forum will examine the options that other communities are using to prevent damages caused by corporations to community, the economy and the environment.

Thanks,
Eric
